Russia Partners Invests In Virtualization Company Parallels
Siguler Guff’s Russia private equity investment arm Russia Partners has completed acquisition of a minority stake in cloud services automation and virtualization company Parallels. Terms of the deal were not disclosed.
In April 2009, Russia private equity group Almaz Capital reportedly acquired a 5% stake in Parallels for $11 million, suggesting a $220 million valuation at that time.
Parallels was founded in 1999 in Singapore by Russian national Serguei Beloussov and currently has its headquarters in Switzerland. The company has a large R&D development center in Russia, as well as offices in Switzerland, Germany, France, Spain, the UK, Japan, China and the USA.
A recent Cnet review comparing Parallel’s mac OS X virtualization product with VMWare’s found that Parallels runs on average about 43 percent faster with Windows 7, and about 30 percent faster with Windows XP.
Russia Partners is the oldest and largest private equity firm in Russia with over $1 billion in assets under management.
