Chatroulette’s Andrey Ternovskiy Weighing Multiple VC Offers
Chatroulette founder Andrey Ternovskiy has announced that he will be visiting the US to meet with venture capital and private equity investors.
The 17-year old Moscow Internet sensation has already received an offer from Yuri Milner of Digital Sky Technologies (DST), Russia’s leading social media investment company. DST owns stakes in V Kontakte, Mail.ru and Facebook among others.
Ternovskiy reportedly did not accept Milner’s offer immediately as he has received hundreds of emails from US based venture capitalists as well as from Google and Skype. The rising Internet star is now applying for a US visa so that he can make the trip to America to meet with potential investors and partners in Silicon Valley.
Chatroulette currently has approximately 1.5 million daily visitors. The website allows random strangers to initiate video conversations using Flash player’s new peer-to-peer protocol. Either user may leave the chat at any time to initiate another random connection.
Spiegel Online estimates that the value of the company could be between €10 million and €30 million.
