Islamic Finance In Russia

Adalet Djabiev is the founder and CEO of Al-Shams Capital, an Islamic investment and financial company incorporated in Russia and regulated by the Russian Securities Commission. Although the Russian Securities Commission doesn’t have explicitly recognize Islamic finance, CEO Djabiev says that Al-Shams is by its nature and through the company’s articles of memorandum, a Shariah-compliant company.

Chatroulette’s Andrey Ternovskiy Weighing Multiple VC Offers

Chatroulette founder Andrey Ternovskiy has announced that he will be visiting the US to meet with venture capital and private equity investors.

The  17-year old Moscow Internet sensation has already received an offer from Yuri Milner of Digital Sky Technologies (DST), Russia’s leading social media investment company. DST owns stakes in V Kontakte, Mail.ru and Facebook among others.

RusAgro To IPO This Year In Russia

RusAgro, one of the largest Russian agricultural holding companies, is preparing for IPO in May, 2010.  Reuters originally reported that the IPO would be held in London, but Forbes is now reporting that the IPO will be in Russia.

The company will seek to raise from $250-$300 million.

Nvidia Signs Partnership Deal With Cognitive Technologies

American graphics card leader Nvidia signed a deal today with Russia’s Cognitive Technologies, a producer of image recognition and document handling software.

This is the first time that a major international IT corporation has signed such an open-ended cooperative deal with a Russian company, according to RBC. Ordinarily, it said,  firms would merely opt to license or purchase the intellectual property and continue its development abroad.
